Hi, I'm trying to set the email facility up after having changed to 1and1 hosting and I'm getting this message.... The Email failed: The requested address is a broadcast address, but flag is not set. Can you figure where i'm going wrong? David
Gary, This is exactly as I've set it up. I've re-tried and still getting the same message. I spent some time talking to 1and1 earlier getting the initial email accounts working so there's nothing amiss there. Any other ideas? David
This could be a configuration issue with third party mail clients like Easy Invoicing UK which depends on standard SMTP protocols.
Try removing the SMTP server setting 'auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk' and try using the actual IP address of their mail server - you may need to contact them for the information.
Gary, Unfortunately it still does exactly the same thing. I've deleted the 2 TGM email accounts in 1and1 and started again so that I know the passwords were correct. My outlook account happily sends and receives emails using the two TGM email accounts. I've configured easy Invoice exactly as shown in your email apart from the port number which is 110 instead of 25 (I've tried 25 and it's the same result) but I'm still getting the original message 'The requested address is a broadcast address but flag is not set' when I try to email the invoice. David
So unfortunatly I'm still stymied at the moment. David
Your message of last Friday did not arrive.. sorry.
We know Easy Invoicing UK is OK and works with 1and 1 hosting and we now know that 1and1 hosting is OK sending emails from third party clients (such as Easy Invoicing UK) .. the test email invoices prove that.
We now need to eliminate other possible causes:
Port 110 is for receiving emails not sending, use Port 25 to send email out.
The next area to check is to make sure your Firewall is not blocking or otherwise affecting both Microsoft Access and Easy Invoicing UK - you may need to check your Firewall settings to see if this is the case. If you are not sure, you could try switching the Firewall off for 2 minutes and then try sending an email invoice. (remember to switch your Firewall on again straight after)
Similarly with your Anti Virus.. make sure it is not interfering with the emails or attachments or the email headers to render the email unusable by 1and1's mail server.
